i was getting drunk to forget the war, i ended up forgetting how to draw!

today, when i woke up, i thought about this drawing of naji el ali

el ali drawing caption: "good morning beirut."

- "go hide yourself hanzala, it seems beirut is going insane these days"

note to the foreign reader: hanzala is the name of el ali's iconic character (the small boy seen from behind in most of his cartoons). the used drawing was published after the 1982 israeli invasion of beirut.

A short description of Lebanon

this drawing is part of a collaboration with 2 danish cartoonists published in 7 episodes under the title "two blonds and an arab" simultaneously by the danish newspaper information and the lebanese newspaper al akhbar.

CONCERT / EXHIBITION IN PARIS

dear friends,

for those of you who are in paris, there is a huge party organized by the french alternative comics publisher l'association on saturday 27th of october at point ephemere (200 quai de valmy).
there will be four artists exhibiting their works (dominique goblet, benpoit jacques, matti hagelberg and myself), and ongoing concerts all day long (my solo is programmed at 4PM).
the party starts at 1PM and nobody knows when it will end.
bring your friends, it is for free.

and for those who are not in paris, but happen to be in munich, please drop by the gasteig (www.offeneohren.org) on tuesday 30th of october for a trumpet trio concert (with probably the two best trumpet players in the world, axel dörner and franz hautzinger).

and finally, for those who are here to see some new drawings, please come back around the second week of november.
